Summer reading for adults is becoming a new tradition for the Library.  This year, which was only the fourth year, 524 adults signed up for the “Exercise Your Mind”-themed summer reading program and took away a nifty tote bag, exercise log book, bookmark and souvenir-quality Date Due book & program log card.  1,932 adults attended 37 programs library-system wide.  Programs included staged readings, film screenings, book discussions, games for the brain, how-to events and Xbox sports and dancing.

Reading whatever they wanted to, 154 participants qualified to be entered into the season-ending drawing.  Eight of these adult won prizes.  Three won the grand prize of a Fitbit and five won $30 bookstore gift cards.  Winner Deborah said, “I was excited to win a prize with the reading program. It made my day.”  We look forward to you joining us next year.

The Library’s adult summer reading program is sponsored by the Friends of the Santa Monica Public Library.
